The LaMancha is recognized as a separate North American breed developed on the West Coast of the US, but its ancestors are believed to be of Spanish origin. Very small ears of two types are their most outstanding characteristic: gopher ears being small and rounded, or elf ears, shorter than two inches. The LaMancha is of medium size but is very strong and hardy. A mature doe weighs 130 pounds or more; a buck weighs 160 pounds or more. This very friendly and calm breed of dairy goat comes in any color or combination of colors.
